We deliver the whole-of-government grants administration for business through the Business Grants Hub, offering agencies streamlined, end-to-end grants management services from planning and design through to delivery and evaluation. Our simple, effective and user-centric approach makes it easier for businesses to find, apply and receive a grant.

This recruitment process is being used to fill current ongoing and non-ongoing EL1 positions. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing EL1 vacancies should they become available within 12 months from the date advertised.

Assistant Program Managers – (based in Melbourne)

The Industry, Structural Adjustment and Science Programs Branch of AusIndustry is responsible for the ongoing management and service delivery of a number of government grants programs. This role includes:

  • Working with stakeholders in the design and promotion of Australian Government grants programs.
  • Managing grant selection exercises in accordance with whole of government frameworks.
  • Managing funding agreements with grantees.
  • Monitoring and reporting on program outcomes to government.

Our ideal candidate

The successful candidate will be:

  • Experienced in government grant program design, delivery and/or management.
  • Able to show good judgement, think strategically and logically.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with a track record of engaging stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with experience in managing workloads and multiple projects and able to deliver results, particularly within short timeframes.
  • Customer focussed.
  • Experienced in managing a small team; and
  • An effective communicator, with strong written skills.

What you will do?

As an Assistant Manager in the Industry, Structural Adjustment and Science Programmes Branch you will provide support to the Program Manager to ensure successful delivery of programs.

This is a key leadership role where you will help:

  • Manage the delivery of government grant programs. This can include contributing to the design of programs, promotion of programs to business and other entities, reviewing applications for grant funding, executing and managing funding agreements with successful grantees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to the department, including as appropriate, with representatives from Australian Government agencies.
  • Provide reports to AusIndustry executive and other agencies; and
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to staff in a team environment.

Assistant Assurance Manager – (based in Canberra)

This is a non-ongoing opportunity for up to 9 months, with the possibility of extension.

The Program Design and Business Grants Hub Branch engages with partners to design and on-board government programs to the Business Grants Hub. We develop streamlined and fit-for purpose processes, tools and resources to deliver programs, in line with whole-of-government frameworks. We lead the ongoing transformation of service delivery to ensure we can meet future demands.

The role, located in the AusIndustry Assurance section within the Branch, includes:

  • Strengthening assurance practices to support AusIndustry as a centre of excellence for the delivery of programs and services.
  • Providing advice in relation to grants policy for the department.
  • Working with the Business Grants Hub to help them implement and continuously improve program design and on-boarding processes and templates that are in line with better practice and whole of Government frameworks.
  • Liaising with Legal Services on Business Grants Hub operations and program specific legal issues.
  • Reviewing program implementation or lessons learnt in program delivery to identify areas for improvement.

  • Capable of working collaboratively and independently.
  • Highly organised with experience in managing workloads and multiple projects and able to deliver results, particularly within short timeframes.
  • An effective communicator, with a history of engaging stakeholders.
  • Detail oriented; and
  • Proficient in the whole of government grant framework.

What you will do?

This is a key leadership role where you will:

  • Be involved in shaping and influencing AusIndustry’s program and service delivery arrangements.
  • Prepare new, and manage existing, assurance documentation (such as program guidelines and grant agreement templates, program delegations and directions, assurance frameworks).
  • Undertake reviews of program implementation to report to the AusIndustry Executive on what worked well and what could be improved for future programs.
  • Keep program teams up to date on new and updated assurance arrangements to support them to successfully deliver their programs.
  • Work with program teams to assist them to determine whether their assurance mechanisms are fit for purpose, having regard to the whole of government grant framework.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

Security Clearance

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
