About the team

Over the next few years, the Australian economy faces a number of significant challenges as the mining boom fades, new digital technologies come on stream, and globalisation continues to expose businesses, industries and regions to greater competition. This will transform what we produce and how we go about producing it.

The Economic Advice Service, a branch within the Office of the Chief Economist, sits at the centre of these issues. We work with policy partners across the department, helping to understand how the economy is transitioning and what encourages Australian businesses to innovate and thrive. The branch provides on-demand economic advice and analysis, as well as strategic thought leadership on economic issues of interest to the portfolio. We produce a number of publications designed to inform and improve the quality of the debate.

Multiple opportunities exist in the Branch across the Economic Outlook and Structural & Regional Analysis teams.
