As the National Centre for Science and Technology Engagement, Questacon’s vision is for a better future for all Australians through engagement with science, technology and innovation. The Centre, Retail and Tourism Section (CRT) contribute to this vision by promoting and communicating science to the Canberra community and visitors to the ACT. We do this by maintaining high customer and client service standards that enhance our visitors’ experience and interaction with science. We are engaged with the local and national tourism industry to promote Canberra, and Questacon, as a sustainable tourist destination.
Our ideal candidate
Do you want to have a direct contribution into the quality of the visitor and work experience for Questacon’s 500,000 annual visitors, outreach audience and staff?
The Q Safety Advisor will develop implement and maintain policies, processes and projects to protect the health and safety of Questacon workers and visitors. This includes managing WHS systems, inspections, investigations, reports and remedial actions, and fostering and enabling a proactive WHS culture through training, communication and consultation.
What you will do
The Q Safety Advisor position supports Questacon’s vision by optimising safe healthy work practices and managing operational activities to comply with the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011. A strong WHS culture is paramount to enabling Questacon to deliver a range of activities to visitors locally, nationally and internationally.
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.
The successful applicant will be required to hold or ability to obtain:
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance including Code 28 – ‘Care, instruction or supervision of children’.
- Background police check.
- Baseline Security Clearance
This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing Executive Level 1 position. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing Executive Level 1 vacancies should they become available within 12 months form the date advertised.
