The Graduate Development Program at the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science is a great way to start your career in the Australian Public Service. Our program is based in Canberra and will commence early February 2020.
We accept all disciplines of study, and we have numerous opportunities available to use your skills, knowledge and experience.
Along with a Generalist Stream, in 2020 we are offering a Professional Services Stream for people with qualifications in ICT, Finance, Law, Human Resources and Communications/Marketing.
Our two-year program provides exciting opportunities and as a graduate we will provide you with:

• four work placements to experience the diversity of roles and responsibilities across the department

• the opportunity to collaborate with other graduates on a major project, tackling real-life policy issues, engaging with our stakeholders, and presenting your findings to the Department’s Executive

In the 2nd year you will be supported to undertake study at the graduate level (i.e. Graduate Certificate) in a field of interest to you and of relevance to us
• a commitment to continuing professional development after the graduate program.

To be eligible for a graduate position you must:
• have completed a minimum of a three-year undergraduate degree within the last 5 years (completed between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2019)
- if you have an overseas qualification it must be recognised by National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR)
• be able to obtain and maintain a baseline security clearance
• be prepared to relocate to Canberra.
To ensure the Department is meeting the requirements of Section 8(1) successful candidates will be required to provide evidence that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person prior to being made an offer of employment. Acceptable evidence includes:
• a letter signed and executed by the Chairperson of an incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation confirming that they are recognised as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, or
• a confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent form executed by an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation.
