The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (the department) drives growth and job creation for a more prosperous Australia, by facilitating economic transformation and boosting business competitiveness.
The People and Planning Branch supports the department in building a high performance organisation. By providing strategic employee focused human resource advice and services, we enable business areas to meet their workforce needs.
In addition to supporting the department, we are reviewing manager capability in managing people with lived experience of mental health issues in the Australian Public Service (APS). The APS Mental Health Capability Project aims to:
As the Manager of the APS Mental Health Capability Project, you will lead the project team and drive the project’s success across the public service. You will
- develop frameworks and strategies to increase manager capability and confidence, and to improve employee wellbeing
- provide professional advice and leadership to shape the strategic direction of the branch, contribute to department’s corporate agenda as part of the branch’s leadership team, and
- partner with our business by regularly consulting with our Heads of Divisions to identify emerging priorities and provide workforce insights.
Who you are
You have superior representational and interpersonal skills and a higher order ability to influence and communicate effectively with people including Executive. You are flexible, able to work across teams to achieve strategic outcomes and take on existing and new strategies as required.
It is preferable that you to hold tertiary qualifications in psychology and have extensive experience as a clinical psychologist. You will also have proven success in project management.

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens. This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
