About the team

The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources’ AusIndustry – Industry Capability and Research Division, delivers a range of programs that focus on driving industry growth and development for target sectors and encouraging research investment. The division interacts with industry, research organisations and universities, as well as businesses through a variety of programs. The R&D Tax Incentive (R&DTI) is the Government’s flagship program to support Australian businesses conducting research and development (R&D) activities. The program is jointly administered by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources through AusIndustry and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

In the R&DTI Branch, the Integrity Management and Governance team works closely with industry stakeholders, the service delivery network and the ATO, to develop integrity management strategies and ensure program integrity, enabling businesses to appropriately access benefits. The team is also responsible for high-level program analysis and reporting to support the Minister and the department’s Executive.

We are looking for two experienced APS Level 6 staff to join the team and help us deliver priority administrative reforms for the R&DTI program. The bulk of the team is located in Canberra, however other locations are also encouraged to apply.

Our ideal candidate

The ideal candidates should demonstrate:

• Solid communication skills and the ability to work constructively with a variety of stakeholders.
• An ability to think differently to solve problems and design solutions.
• A service delivery mindset.
• Project or program management experience.
• An ability to work under limited direction and embrace uncertainty.
• An understanding of the R&DTI program and the strategic context that it operates under, or an ability to quickly develop such an understanding.

What you will do

Key duties for the Program Management position include:

• Designing and delivering projects and initiatives to support program integrity, including development of related documentation and evaluation.
• Building productive relationships within the branch and with other stakeholders.
• Maintaining process procedures to support the program’s statutory compliance activities.
• Developing internal and external communications messaging.
• Producing briefings and talking points for program management, departmental Executive, and committees.

Key duties for the Project Management position include:

• Project management, implementation and reporting.
• Building productive relationships within the branch and with other stakeholders.
• Contributing to the design and delivery projects and initiatives to support program integrity.
• Producing briefings and talking points for program management, departmental Executive, and committees.
• Working collaboratively with others to ensure delivery of well-considered project outcomes.

Eligibility

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.

Security Clearance

These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

Notes

We have state offices in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Consideration will be given to the location of our ideal candidates if they are not located in Canberra. Travel to Canberra from time to time may be required.
