About the team
The Industry Growth Division within the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources delivers a range of programs focusing on supporting Australian industry to be sustainable, resilient and to grow to its full potential. The Division is responsible for both policy and regulatory functions.
This recruitment process will fill several vacancies at APS Level 5, APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1 levels across all four branches of the division – Business Settings, Industry Capability & Participation, Industry Development & Analysis and COVID Response. We are seeking talented individuals to work across a number of policy and regulatory areas in a flexible working environment.
The key capabilities required for the positions include:
- ability to think critically about issues, with sound judgement
- being comfortable in a dynamic fast-paced and changing environment
- strong relationship building skills along with experience in working and communicating with different types of stakeholders
- having strong written and oral communication skills
- being adaptable and confident in coordinating a multitude of different tasks and projects simultaneously
- good eye for detail and a willingness to learn,
- having proven ability to show initiative and problem solve
- proven ability to work as part of and, for the EL1, lead a team.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Knowledge of Budget and Cabinet processes
- Data analysis skills and capacity to draw out insights
- Experience implementing regulation
- Experience in policy development and implementation would be beneficial.
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.
These positions require a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
The Industry Growth Division is primarily located in Canberra. Consideration will also be given to staff to work from a location outside of Canberra.
This recruitment process is being used to fill several ongoing Executive Level 1, APS Level 6 and APS Level 5 roles. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies, should they become available within 12 months from the date advertised.
