About the team
The Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship Branch in Commercialisation Division is responsible for policies and programs creating an environment to increase commercialisation by entrepreneurs and innovative businesses. Our policies help inspire, connect, empower and commercialise Australian ideas to be world leading.
The Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship Branch is looking for talented, motivated and inspiring people to join our teams:
- Commercialisation & Entrepreneurship Policy – Startup and commercialisation policy, Challenge-Based Innovation policy (including Business Research and Innovation Initiative policy), and supporting the Global Entrepreneurship Congress
- Early Stage Finance – Finance for Early Stage companies, Venture Capital Policy, Boosting Female Founders policy, and Industry Growth Program policy
- Venture Capital – Program management for venture capital funds, government co-investment programs such as the Biomedical Translation Fund and Boosting Female Founders mentoring
- Intellectual Property Policy – maintain a coherent and integrated approach to IP across government, IP Policy Group Secretariat, Commercialisation and Growth Centre of Expertise.

What you will do
The Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship Branch is looking for a variety of Executive Level 1 Assistant Managers to deliver high quality advice and service.
These roles provide an excellent opportunity to assist in the implementation of significant government innovation policies, including working with other agencies, stakeholder organisations and businesses.
Policy positions will:
- Interpret, plan, draft and review policy and procedural directions within specialist areas
- Lead in the development of policy documents for review and publication
- Provide technical advice in specific areas of policy
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
- Work with a team to deliver results, and
- Represent the work area in relation to policy development.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
