The opportunity
The department has a number of current Executive Officer vacancies to fill at the APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1 classifications, and we will also be looking to create a merit pool to fill future opportunities over the next 18 months.
Our ideal candidate

Additionally at the Executive Level 1 classification, candidates will demonstrate:

What you will do
As a successful candidate, responsibilities will include:
- maintaining high functioning networks and relationships with the Executive, Corporate teams and other business areas across the department
- preparing, coordinating and proofing of complex or sensitive correspondence, including corporate documentation, submissions, talking points, briefing papers and senior committee papers
- providing strategic advice to your Executive about divisional/branch matters and ensure they remain informed and aware of issues requiring attention
- delivering project work related to the successful administration of your work area
- providing secretariat support in a varied and dynamic work environment, including minute taking, digital record keeping and drafting of reports
- maintenance and review of governance and compliance activities, including asset management planning and business continuity planning
- maintaining and updating administrative practices, systems, and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery
- co-ordinating and monitoring procurements.
Additionally at the Executive Level 1 you will:
- have awareness of the broader strategic environment and consider wider agency implications when making decisions and providing advice
- provide leadership to the office team to deliver results by motivating, guiding and developing staff and identifying opportunities to enhance team performance.
- lead the development of strategic documents including the business plan and annual divisional budgets
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a minimum Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Some vacancies may require a higher security clearance which will be clarified by the hiring manager.
Notes
This recruitment process is being used to fill various current ongoing APS Level 6 and Executive Level 1 vacancies. A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
